The Pardes Admissions Process
Thank you for your interest in Pardes Jewish Day School. We are excited that you are considering this best of both worlds — a challenging academic program coupled with a strong foundation in Jewish heritage and culture.
The best way to begin the admissions process is to visit our school. Campus tours of Pardes include time in classrooms, and are available by appointment throughout the year. Providing individual attention to each student and family is a hallmark of Pardes. We look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you.
The goal of the admissions process is to make sure that there is a good match between each applicant and the school’s ability to meet his or her academic, social, emotional and physical needs. Because the school prides itself on its low student-teacher ratio there is limited space available in each grade level.
Pardes admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the educational policies, scholarship programs and athletic and other school-administered programs..
The Admissions Process:
1. Call Pardes Jewish Day School (480-991-9194, ext. 503) to request an Admissions packet and to make an appointment with Tom Sylvester for a tour of the school.
2. Pardes hosts a series of events that help families become acquainted with the School. The Open House will be held on Sunday, October 30th from 2-4pm. Please go to the website under the Admissions link for the complete calendar of events.
3. Complete and submit the application along with the $100 application fee.
4. Submit the “Permission to Release School Records” form to an official at the applicant’s current school. Give the “Teacher Recommendation” form to the applicant’s current teacher.
5. Kindergarten applicants will be scheduled to attend a “play-date” that will be held on the Pardes campus. The purpose of the “play-date” is to get to know each child and assess his or her readiness for the kindergarten program. Each child will have the opportunity to meet our three wonderful kindergarten teachers in an interactive environment for approximately 2 hours.
6. For applicants to grades 1-8, a “shadowing” day should be scheduled by contacting Tom Sylvester. Applicants will get the chance to experience the school from their perspective.
7. There is an admissions testing assessment required for all applicants to grades 1-8. We would like each child to return to Pardes after they have “shadowed” for approximately one hour to complete a math, reading and writing assessment.
8. Once an application is complete the admissions committee will review it and make a decision. Parents will receive notification of the admission status shortly thereafter.
Providing individual attention to each student and family is a hallmark of PJDS. We look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you and to begin the admissions process.
