Mission and Philosophy
Mission Statement
Pardes Jewish Day School shall provide a high-quality, synagogue-based day school education, guided by Reform Jewish values. The School will provide its students with both secular and Judaic studies, while striving for the cognitive and emotional growth of students in a warm and loving environment. The School will foster the development of Jewish values and practices and reflect "neshama" (Jewish spirit, heart, and soul).
Philosophy
The name "Pardes" means "orchard" in Hebrew and is a dynamic metaphor for growth. Our goal is to provide our students with strong roots from which to grow by offering a unique day school experience that fosters both cognitive and emotional growth in a warm, nurturing Judaic environment. It is our desire to create a love of learning that will remain with our students throughout their lives.
Excellence in Academics
Pardes Jewish Day School provides an excellent well-rounded academic education that emphasizes personalized learning. Classes have low student-teacher ratios, allowing teachers to bring out the best in each child. Our experienced and dedicated faculty provides a creative, energized approach to education that challenges and excites students.
Strong Emphasis on Jewish Values
Our children develop a high level of comfort with diverse Jewish practices as they learn about customs, rituals, and traditions and study ethics and Jewish text as an integral part of the curriculum. Students benefit from the perspectives and in-sights of clergy from our community congregations as each rabbi brings his or her unique approach to Torah studies. Classroom teachers join with Jewish Studies and Hebrew teachers in strengthening each child's knowledge and understanding on a daily basis, building strong Jewish identities.
Diverse Curriculum
Beyond our comprehensive academic and Judaic curriculum, students receive an education that includes a wide range of subjects taught by highly qualified specialized teachers. These programs, which include art, music, physical education, recorder (beginning in 3rd grade), Spanish (beginning in 4th grade), and technology, are an integral part of the total curriculum. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in many exciting after school activities, including choir, dance, gymnastics, karate, swimming, technology, and a variety of competitive sports.
Personal Development
Personal growth is a vital part of each student's educational experience. Our focus on the whole child allows each student to develop strong self-esteem, confidence, quality interactive skills, and healthy values.
