How you can make your gift

Gifts of Cash

To make an outright gift or to pledge a gift over time, download the online form (print Donation Form) and submit it to the Development Office. If you are considering a gift over $25,000 you may want to discuss your contribution with the Development Office to ensure the gift is structured to your desires.

Checks may be made payable to Pardes Jewish Day School (or PJDS). We accept Visa and Mastercard as well. If you make pledge payments over time, the Development Office will send you reminder notices that payment on the pledge is due.

Matching Gifts

Many companies match employee contributions. Some even double or triple their employees' contributions. Please investigate your employer's policy, and if the school is a qualified recipient, obtain a matching gift form from your employer and forward it with your gift.

Gifts of Securities

Gifts of appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, and mutual funds) can provide significant tax advantages. You receive a deduction for the full market value of the donated stock, on the day of transfer to PJDS, and avoid capital gains and broker's fees. Gifts of securities require special attention. Please contact the Development Office for assistance. We will work with your agent or broker to affect the transfer.

Bequests and Other Planned Giving

Remembering Pardes Jewish Day School in your will and/or establishing special trusts or gift annuities are outstanding ways to leave a legacy while enhancing Jewish education. We would be pleased to discuss these options with you or your advisors. We encourage you to consult with your attorney and financial advisor to determine the best choice for you. Gifts are also impacted by changing tax laws. Bequests (see below) are the most simple form of planned giving.

Bequests

The most simple and direct planned gift is bequest. You may identify Pardes as a beneficiary in your will and designate that the School receive a fixed dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, life insurance or real estate. This is an effective way to reduce your estate tax, while benefiting the School. The School can provide language for use in your will, and you will want to speak with your attorneys or tax professional.

Gifts of Life Insurance

You can donate a life insurance policy to the School or name Pardes as the beneficiary. When you make a gift of a paid-up policy, you receive an income tax deduction equal to the lesser of the cash value of the policy or the total premiums paid. To qualify for the federal charitable contribution deduction on a gift of an existing policy, you must name Pardes as owner and beneficiary.

Gifts of Real Estate

Real estate gifts include full-time residences and vacation homes, commercial properties, and developed or undeveloped property. You can deduct the fair market value of your gift (as determined by a qualified real estate appraiser) and avoid all capital gains taxes and remove that asset from your taxable estate.

Commemorative and Naming Opportunities for major gifts starting at $25,000 are available and welcomed. The Development Office is available to help with this option.
