Pardes Jewish Day School combines an innovative and challenging academic environment with the values of Jewish life. Students develop a lifelong love of learning while gaining 21st-century skills. Discover all the reasons Pardes is a valuable investment in your child.
Project Based Learning
Integrated hands on learning is an essential component of our educational philosophy. Learning by doing greatly increases retention as students apply knowledge to solve real-world problems, learn ways to think critically and modify approaches in order to make breakthroughs and achieve success. Academic rigor at Pardes is about pushing beyond what is easy as students study, analyze and synthesize a challenging curriculum that provides breadth and depth to their knowledge and experiences.
Regular STEAM activities begin in kindergarten and continue throughout Lower School and Middle School. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math are combined with other project-based learning, leveraging the strength of both to help students develop vital skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication. Project based STEAM learning is the type of applied learning that makes for future scientists, technology experts, engineers, artists and mathematicians.
We understand the importance of recognizing each child’s strengths and interests and then using that knowledge to create differentiated learning opportunities. Our teaching methods include:
- Extending skills and strategies for advanced learners
- Re-teaching skills and strategies for children who may struggle
- Varying levels of complexity in content, process, products and learning environment
Small Class Size
Research shows that small class size results in better student performance across all subjects and levels. With an average student to teacher ratio of 5:1:
- Teachers have more one-on-one time with each student, enabling them to provide meaningful learning experiences
- Students feel safe and empowered to exercise their independence and step beyond comfort zones to take risks.
- There are more opportunities for students to interact and build peer relationships
- Teachers are typically able to cover more ground due to fewer distractions
Teachers regularly communicate with parents and help children become active and involved members in the Pardes community.
Jewish Life and Learning
Students are empowered to explore their own connections to Jewish traditions, culture and community as they learn about Jewish history, Bible, holidays and Hebrew. Pardes is an inclusive community that celebrates the diversity of the Jewish people in a welcoming and accepting atmosphere centered around our school’s Core Values. Authentic opportunities for service and leadership help develop character and create students who are poised to be leaders in high school, college and the community.
